G. Orozco et C. Gutierrez, Adsorption and electro-oxidation of carbon monoxide, methanol, ethanol andformic acid on osmium electrodeposited on glassy carbon, J ELEC CHEM, 484(1), 2000, pp. 64-72
The activity of Os electrodeposited on glassy carbon (Os/GC) for the electr
o-oxidation of carbon monoxide, methanol, ethanol and formic acid has been
studied. CO chemisorbed on Os/CC in its linear (on-top) form, as determined
by in situ Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIRS). The typical re
flectance increase produced by the chemisorption of CO on thin metal films
electrodeposited on glassy carbon was observed. Dissociative chemisorption
of the above Cl organic compounds led to linearly chemisorbed CO. The elect
rolyte electroreflectance spectrum of Os/CC in GO-saturated 1 M HClO4 showe
d the same maximum at 270 nm already reported for Ru, Ph, Pd, Pt and Au. Th
is maximum was assigned to an electronic transition from the Fermi level of
the metal to the antibonding 2 pi* level of chemisorbed CO. (C) 2000 Elsev
