Fault diagnosis using algorithmic redundancy

This paper introduces the concept of algorithmic redundancy used in fault d iagnosis. Its implementation is illustrated with three examples: a statisti cal limit checking test, a fault detection and isolation method based on ba lance equations, and a fuzzy alarm generator. These three methods are integ rated in a hierarchical diagnostic architecture that is used to validate th e concept with simulation results.
