Halogenation and oxygenation of the metal and oxidation of phosphorus in complexes of the type M(dppe)(2)(N-2)(2) (M = Mo, W) by reaction with thionylhalides
C. Stoll et al., Halogenation and oxygenation of the metal and oxidation of phosphorus in complexes of the type M(dppe)(2)(N-2)(2) (M = Mo, W) by reaction with thionylhalides, J ORGMET CH, 602(1-2), 2000, pp. 24-28
M(dppe)(2)(N-2)(2) (M = Mo, W; dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane) is
converted by thionylchloride into the chlorinated and oxygenated derivative
s MoCl4(dppeO(2)) and WCl3(O)(dppeO(2)), respectively. In contrast, thionyl
bromide reacts with W(dppe)(2)(N-2)(2), to give specifically the tetrabromi
de WBr4(dppe). The molecular structure of MoCl4(dppeO(2)) has been determin
ed by single crystal X-ray analysis. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rig
