Abstract
The middle turbinate is an important surgical landmark in functional endosc opic sinus surgery (FESS). Postoperatively, lateralization may obstruct the middle meatus, thereby increasing the risk of complications and recurrence s. A new medialization technique using metallic clips between the head of t he middle turbinate and the septum is described. The aim of this study is t o evaluate the clip medialization technique applied in 56 cases of bilatera l FESS. We think that this simple technique, with its low rate of complicat ions, is an adequate and simple procedure for middle turbinate medializatio n. A good and accessible middle meatus was observed in 54 patients.
