A Raman study was carried out on the phase transition and decomposition of
perovskite-type cubic phase Eu1-xKxTiO3 (x = 0.20, 0.26, 0.32, 0.38 and 0.4
4), which were synthesized under high pressure and high temperature. Upon s
intering, the metastable cubic phase transforms to the tetragonal phase. In
the decomposition process, K2Ti6O13 was identified as one of the decomposi
tion products in all samples, and no potassium titanates in other forms hav
e been observed. In the further decomposition of K2Ti6O13, either rutile or
anatase could be obtained, depending on the heating process. Copyright (C)
