Abstract
The effects of precompression on the kinetics of decomposition of three sol ids, viz. potassium bromate, ammonium perchlorate and potassium permanganat e have been examined by thermogravimetry in air. The rates of decomposition (isothermally) of these solids are found to be significantly modified by p recompression. The rate law remains unaltered. Precompression does not affe ct the basic mechanism of the solids. It could only modify the concentratio n of potential sites.
