Synthetic pathways to polydepsipeptides

The synthesis of polydepsipeptides through polycondensation of linear depsi peptides comprising an activated carboxylic endgroup and an amine end group or through ring-opening polymerization of morpholine-2,5-diones has been r eviewed. Polydepsipeptide synthesis allows the preparation of a large varie ty of biodegradable polymers which are either unsubstituted, alkyl substitu ted or contain functional groups in the side chains of the polymers.
