Abstract
Various characterizations are given of the exponential Orlicz space L-exp t (r) and the Orlicz-Lorentz space L-exp t(r1),t(r.). By way of application w e give a simple proof of the celebrated theorem of BREZIS and WAINGER conce rning a limiting case of a Sobolev imbedding theorem.
