Abstract
The eigenequation for a metal-coated planar chiral-dielectric waveguide is derived. The effects of chirality on the cutoff, the dispersion characteris tics, and the field distributions are investigated. The results show that c hirality causes twists in the dispersion curves as well as mode jumping. (C ) 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
