Aj. Boston et al., High-spin states in Te-109: Competition between collective and single-particle excitations - art. no. 064305, PHYS REV C, 6106(6), 2000, pp. 4305
High-spin states have been studied in neutron-deficient Te-109(52), populat
ed through the Ni-58(Ni-58,alpha 2pn) reaction at 250 MeV. The GAMMASPHERE
gamma-ray spectrometer has been used in conjunction with the MICROBALL char
ged-particle detector and 15 neutron detectors in order to select weakly po
pulated evaporation residues. New band structures have been established in
Te-109. Measured B(E1) strengths are discussed in terms of octupole correla
tions in this mass region. In addition, possible noncollective oblate state
s have been identified.
