Abstract
The role of the breakup process of the weakly bounded light projectile Be-9 , on the near barrier fusion reaction and elastic scattering, is investigat ed by two different approaches. The fusion cross sections for the Be-9+Zn-6 4 system were compared with the ones from other similar systems (the O-16+Z n-64 and N-14+Co-59). The measurement of the elastic scattering for this sy stem was also used to study the threshold anomaly. There are indications th at the fusion suppression due to the Be-9 breakup is not important for the interaction of Be-9 with this medium mass target.
