The morphology and anatomy of the seed testa of eight native tree species f
rom northeastern Mexico: Acacia farnesiana, Bumelia celastrina, Condalia ho
okerii, Cordia boissieri, Leucaena leucocephala, Parkinsonia aculeata, Pith
ecelobium ebano, and, Prosopis glandulosa, was studied. All the testas had
one or two layers of long and compact macrosclereid cells arranged like pal
isade parenchyma cells. However, the surface characteristics of the testas
showed large variability among species.
