Abstract
In vitro regeneration of shoots from nodal segments (containing one axillar y bud) as well as from isolated axillary buds of Gleditsia triacanthos L. w as studied under defined nutritional and environmental conditions. Shoot re generation from, either nodal segments of young trees (1 year old) or adult trees (more than 25 years old) occurred in several media. The most suitabl e combination includes Murashige & Skoog (1962) medium supplemented with 3 mg/L 3-indolilacetic acid and 0.05 mg/L kinetin. Rooting of shoots was neve r observed. In vitro sprouting of isolated axillary buds from adult trees o ccurred but did not develop further.
