Abstract
We study the characteristics of self-generated zonal flows as observed in n
onlinear global gyrokinetic simulations of toroidal ion temperature gradien
t (ITG) turbulence for typical parameters of DIII-D core plasmas. In additi
on, we discuss various possibilities for experimental measurements and the
development of new diagnostics.
