The purpose of this work is to study the effect of distance between offence
player and defense player on the perceived goal throwing risk. 69 handball
players participated in the experiment: 33 women (12 apprentices, 11 junio
rs and 10 seniors) and 36 men (13 apprentices, 15 juniors and 8 seniors). T
he magnitude estimation method with seven stimuli (distances) and one stand
ard was used. Results indicate that the players assign different risk value
s to different distances. Apprentice men assign bigger risk values to inter
mediate distances, and the another players to the shortest ones but there a
re differences between categories and sex.
