We report a new case of tumoral calcinosis in a renal failure patient. In t
his patient the pseudotumoral formation was found in an unusual localizatio
n on the medial border of the foot. The condition progressed with successiv
e development of bilateral tumors and septic contamination. Pathology confi
rmed the diagnosis. The patient was successfully treated with tumor resecti
on and renal graft.
The origin of these pseudotumors remains a question of debate. Several path
ogene mechanisms have been put forward. Prognosis is always favorable. Seve
ral authors have suggested a phosphorus calcium work-up can be useful for c
lassifying these tumors, guiding surgical treatment if required and managin
g the underlying cause.
