"Kairos" is usually held as a key-word in Gorgias' theory of "logos," a pro
of of the sophist's relativism. This paper intends to show, through the ana
lysis of "brachulogia makrologia" - according to Plato, two of Protagoras'
and Gorgias' most famous techniques - , that the importance of "kairos" in
the latter's works and thought has been greatly overestimated.
