N. Kalechofsky et al., CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE BROADENING OF COLOSSAL MAGNETORESISTANCE IN A MANGANITE HETEROSTRUCTURE, Journal of applied physics, 81(12), 1997, pp. 8115-8117
An intrinsic characteristic of the ''colossal'' magnetoresistance mang
anite compounds is that the resistance and the magnetoresistance vary
strongly with temperature over the small temperature regime in which t
he magnetoresistance is exceptionally large. We propose a heterostruct
ure constructed of layers of varying composition manganites which exte
nds the regime of large magnetoresistance and greatly broadens the sha
rp peak in resistance. Data from a prototype heterostructure are prese
nted that demonstrate the effectiveness of this method. (C) 1997 Ameri
