Abstract
Calymmatobacterium granulomatis is the causative agent of donovanosis (also known as granuloma inguinale), an uncommon but important cause of genito-u lcerative disease. Although one of the 'neglected' sexually transmitted inf ections (STI); there have been a number of important advances in the unders tanding of the microbiology and molecular biology of the organism in the la st few years.
