Abstract
The solvability is investigated of the displacement and traction initial-bo undary problems for plates with transverse shear deformation. Existence, un iqueness and continuous dependence on the data are proved for distributiona l solutions in Sobolev-type spaces. Different approaches are used for inter ior and exterior problems, since the relevant operators lose their compactn ess in exterior domains.
