Abstract
Phase equilibria in the ternary Gd-Co-Si system at 500 degrees C have been studied by means of X-ray powder diffraction. The existence of 15 binary co mpounds and 6 ternary compounds, namely GdCoSi, GdCoSi2 GdCoSi3, GdCo2Si2, GdCo0.4Si1.6 and GdCo11-xSix were confirmed in this isothermal section. The section consists of 24 single-phase regions, 51 two-phase regions and 28 t hree-phase regions. No new ternary compound was found in this section.
