The polarized absorption spectra, time-resolved emission spectra, and
emission lifetimes of Pr3+ doped LiTaO3 crystals were measured. An int
ense emission from the P-3(0) level was observed. The positions of the
Pr3+ levels, experimental oscillator strengths, and branching ratios
from the P-3(0) and D-1(2) levels were determined. The results are dis
cussed in terms of the Judd-Ofelt parameters.
