Abstract
For the first time an Ho3+ silica fibre laser has been realised using a Bra gg grating as the input coupler and a fibre pump source at 1.15 mu m. The o utput power of 280mW at 2 mu m is to the authors' knowledge the highest val ue reported so far for Ho3+ silica fibre lasers.
