Abstract
Temperature stable polymer optical waveguides have been realised and integr ated into printed circuit boards (PCBs). A special waveguide fabrication pr ocess has been developed which is compatible with standard PCB processing t echnologies. Multimode waveguides with a 100 x 100 mu m(2) cross-section ha ve been produced by hot embossing thin polymer foils. Embedding of the wave guide foils into multilayer PCBs has led to a hybrid electrical-optical cir cuit board solution.
