Abstract
A polarisation-insensitive semiconductor arrayed waveguide grating integrat ed with a spotsize converter has been fabricated which features a low loss of 7dB and a low polarisation-dependent loss of 0.2dB on average when coupl ed to a flat-ended fibre. The channel crosstalk is lower than -27dB for all channels, and the misalignment tolerance is increased to +/-2 mu m.
