In different spices Salmonellae could surely be proved within 24 hours with
the PROBELIA PCR Test Kit of the BIG-RAD Laboratories Ltd., comparing with
the method according S 35 LMBG. At garlic powders, a proof was only possib
le, either with PCR or with the conventional method, if 0,5% potassium sulp
hite were added to the preliminary enrichment. This was also the case at a
mass/volume relationship of 1:100, so that for the investigation of garlic
on Salmonellae a change is recommended for the method by S 35 LMBG and by D
IN/ISO respectively.
