Abstract
Most palaeobatrachid species have been recovered from the Oligocene and ear ly Miocene of Germany and Czech Republic. In France, contemporaneous Palaeo batrachidae have been found only in the Agenian (= Aquitanian; early Miocen e). Only two Agenian localities have yielded palaeobatrachids in France: La ugnac (Palaeobatrachus robustus nov. sp.) and Poncenat (Palaeobatrachus sp. ). The referral of the palaeobatrachid from Laugnac (i.e., P. robustus nov. sp.) to the genus Albionbatrachus of the late Eocene of England is disprov ed and the validity of Albionbatrachus is questioned.
