Z. Golonka et al., Effects of escape to alone versus escape to enriched environments on adaptive and aberrant behavior, J APPL BE A, 33(2), 2000, pp. 243-246
Escape-maintained aberrant behavior may be influenced by two outcomes: (a)
a break from the activity and (b) subsequent access to preferred activities
. To assess this hypothesis, a treatment was developed that analyzed respon
se allocation across two break options: break alone and break with access t
o preferred social activities. The break with preferred activities decrease
d aberrant behavior and increased appropriate behavior.
