Abstract
The rediscovered holotype specimen of the "eastern Pacific" Lysiosquilla de saussurei (Stimpson) (Lysiosquillidae) is a specimen of the amphi-American Cloridopsis dubia (H. Milne Edwards) (Squillidae). Most specimens referred to Stimpson's taxon after 1857 are either misidentified Lysiosquilla scabri cauda (Lamarck) or a new species of Lysiosquilla, ranging from Baja Califor nia Sur, Mexico, south to Costa Rica and possibly Peru, which is described herein.
