Abstract
The magnetic domains at the surface and in the volume of a 1 mm thick singl e crystal of Fe12.8 at%Si with (1 1 1) principal surfaces are analyzed expe rimentally after "freezing in" the domains as a precipitation pattern (Libo vicky method). The validity of a three-dimensional echelon model for domain refinement close to strongly misoriented iron surfaces is verified for the first time. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
