The mean demagnetizing factor N attributed to each of the magnetic particle
s constituting a 2D composite material is computed. N is found to decrease
when the magnetic volume fraction increases. This behaviour is linked to th
e fading of inner magnetic poles. The influence of the neighbourood is exam
ined, and values for the magnetostatic self-energy are also presented. (C)
