The magnetomechanical behaviour of Fe-16%Cr-(0-8)%Al and Fe-16%Cr-(0-4)%Mo
alloys has been studied over a wide range of frequencies (f = 200-2000 Hz)
and deformations (epsilon = 10(-4)-10(-3)). The resonance peaks of the flat
beam specimens were recorded from which, several parameters including the
damping capacity Q(-1), Delta E effect, internal stress sigma(i) and magnet
ostriction constant lambda were determined and compared with the permeabili
ty and coercivity of samples. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights res
