Abstract
For 12 proton sponges the pK(a) values and the heats of their monoprotonati on were measured. The protonation reaction heats reflected very well the fo rmation of stable NHN+ intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The intramolecular NH N+ hydrogen bond parameters were calculated and compared with the experimen tal crystallographic data. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserv ed.
