A series of novel composites consisting of NiCuZn ferrite and cordierite cr
ystallites was prepared by sintering mixtures of NiCuZn ferrite nanosized p
articles and MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 (MAS) glass powder. X-ray diffraction (XRD) res
ults revealed that cordierite glass particles crystallize during sintering,
resulting in the coexistence of NiCuZn ferrite with cordierite crystal pha
se in as-sintered composites. The resulting composites have tunable electro
magnetic properties with high resonance frequencies, which may be used for
multilayer chip inductors (MLCIs). (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All right
