H. Nagashino et Y. Kinouchi, Synchronization with a periodic pulse train in an asymmetrically coupled neuronal network model, NEUROCOMPUT, 32, 2000, pp. 471-478
We constructed a neuronal network model that shows synchronization with a p
eriodic pulse train as external force. In this model, two neurons coupled b
y reciprocal inhibition oscillate intrinsically. One neuron has rebound pro
perty from the inhibition by the other neuron. Only the other neuron receiv
es the external periodic pulse train input. The neurons are entrained to th
e input in such a way that the frequency ratio of the input and output is r
ational numbers in low order in wide range of the input frequency. Asymmetr
icity makes possible the synchronization in a wider range of frequency of t
he pulse trains in some ratios of the input and output frequency than in th
e former models. The concept of the present modeling can be applied to the
explanation of the entrainment in rhythmic motor behaviors, (C) 2000 Elsevi
