Abstract
NTT Communicationware Corporation (NTT Comware) developed an electronic cat alog with high productivity, extensibility, data portability and flexibilit y. The next-generation content descriptive language, XML, is used for the e lectronic catalog for the Internet electronic commerce (EC) service-SmartED I-which NTT Comware began to provide last fall. This service will be one of the most attracting information sharing systems over the Internet/Intranet .
