Abstract
The influence of N-sulfinyl chiral auxiliaries on the stereochemistry of th e Pictet-Spengler reaction has been investigated. From enantiopure (R)-N-be ta-toluenesulfinyltryptamine a new and efficient route to enantiopure tetra hydro-beta-carbolines has been established.
