Abstract
A series of 3-substituted 2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert-butylphenyl)thiazolidin- 4-ones were prepared by condensation of azomethines derived from 4-hydroxy- 3,5-di-tert-butylbenzaldehyde with thioglycolic acid and their structure wa s confirmed by IR and H-1 NMR spectroscopy. The synthesized compounds, as w ell as Delta(2)-imidazolines containing the sterically hindered phenol moie ty, were shown to have promise as effective additives enhancing thermooxida tive stability of synthetic oils.
