Single cardiac myocytes provide a Model widely used to characterize the ele ctrophysiological properties of drugs and to identify new therapeutic targe ts. This review focuses on isolation procedures to obtain single cardiac my ocytes from several mammal species, including humans, and on patch-clamp te chnique as a useful method to investigate the molecular mechanism of druy a ctions.
