Abstract
In this paper the asymptotic homogenization method (AHM) is used to compute the macrobehavior of reinforced piezocomposite materials with periodically distributed unidirectional regular fibers (1-3 piezocomposite). By applyin g the Ritz Method, the local problems are solved approximately for two diff erent geometries of the fiber cross section: square and circular. Compariso n bet ween the theoretical predictions and existing experimental results sh ow that the agreement is quite good. Finally, we illustrate the importance of these results to obtain new piezoelectries with better global properties for transducer applications.
