We fabricated large grain (Sm, Gd)-Ba-Cu-O bulk superconductors with the to
p-seeded, melt-growth process in air and 1%O-2-Ar. Ag addition was effectiv
e in suppressing the amount of cracking. Unlike Sm-Ba-Cu-O, the (Sm, Gd)-Ba
-Cu-O bulk showed relatively high T-c and large J(c) values even when melt-
processed in air. The trapped field value of 0.83 T was recorded at 77 K fo
r the sample melt processed in air.
