Magnetized high-T-c superconducting discs and rings offer the opportunity t
o produce much stronger magnetic fields than conventional permanent magnets
. In this study single-domain (Nd, Eu, Gd)-Ba-Cu-O bulk samples have been f
abricated with various NEG-211 contents. The maximum trapped fields of melt
-grown blocks were measured as a function of external field and compared wi
th the J(c)-B properties of small specimens. Both measurements showed a sim
ilar field dependency, which implies that the same pinning mechanism is act
ive even in large melt-grown blocks.
