We have studied the levitation of Y-Ba-Cu-O hulk superconductors above a Bi
-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconducting pancake coil with and without the function of t
he inner coil. It was found that the inner coil with small diameter can enh
ance the levitation force through its contribution to the radial component
of the magnetic field. We also successfully applied the total energy balanc
e method for the understanding of the bulk levitation.
