There has been a considerable increase in the educational level and awarene
ss of neonatal care in developing countries over last decade. The importanc
e of neonatal resuscitation, however, has been ignored. This report discuss
es the importance of structured neonatal courses with emphasis on the need
for more such courses at regional levels, especially in developing countrie
s. The concept of basic and advanced life support of the newborn is also pr
esented.
