Abstract
In the particulate two-phase boundary layer flow with disturbance exerting in the entrance of boundary layer, the discrete vortex model and one-way co upling method are employed to compute particle velocities and trajectories, and wall erosion caused by particle impacts. In order to verify the comput ational results, a corresponding experiment is made. Both numerical and exp erimental results show that disturbance in the entrance of boundary layer c an reduce erosion caused by particle impacts in the particulate two-phase f low. The introduced disturbance with higher intensity confined in some rang e can lead to smaller quantity of erasion of wall. This is an entirely new method in erosion reduction of wall. It is also drawn that exerting disturb ance in the entrance of boundary layer is more effective for reducing erosi on than adding ribs on the wall. The results given in this paper are helpfu l for practical application. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights rese rved.
