Cabbage is frequently used in environmental monitoring and food control, an
d, hence, cabbage reference materials (RMs) are required for ensuring quali
ty assurance. A cabbage RM was prepared in view of certification of specifi
c elements from the "black list" of high toxicological interest and nutriti
ve importance. All tasks of the RM production (production of the plant mate
rial, cutting and freeze-drying, determination of the residual water conten
t, preparation of the RM, homogeneity testing, stability testing, certifica
tion measurements) are described in detail.
