Abstract
We describe a novel method for quantification of atrazine based on detectio n of P450 mRNA levels in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The selected oligonucleo tide probe exhibited specificity against P450 mRNA and was successfully imm obilized on the sensor chip. The mRNA was subsequently quantified by RU cha nge using a SPR system. When the cells were disrupted by boiling, mRNA coul d be measured without further purification at reduced sensitivity. This sim ple technique permits the detection of atrazine within 15 min. This rapid a nd highly sensitive method can be used for the detection of atrazine.
