The pseudo-fluid approach is applied to the prediction of phase hold-up in
three-phase fluidised systems in the dispersed Row regime. The liquid and g
as phases are treated as a single homogeneous fluid whose characteristics (
density, viscosity and flow rate) are determined independently. This enable
s well-established correlations for two-phase, fluid-solid systems to be ap
plied to three-phase systems leading to predictions for the solid, liquid a
nd gas phase hold-ups in good agreement with experimental behaviour observe
d for solids suspension in air-water and other less common gas-fluid mixtur
