inelastic collisions of slow electrons with barium dichloride molecules are
studied using the method of extended crossed electron and molecular beams.
It has been found that dissociative excitation of BaII is much more probab
le than excitation of BaI. Spectral bands of the (II)-I-2 -->(2) Sigma seri
es of barium monochloride are also excited. Fundamental tendencies in the b
ehaviour of cross sections for dissociative excitation are analyzed.
