The temperature dependence of the dielectric permittivity under a de e
lectric field is studied in (1 - x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3 ceramics (
0 less than or equal to x < 0.1). The size of the ordered regions, whi
ch is the key parameter to understand the dielectric response of such
materials, is suggested to be reduced by Ti doping. A ferroelectric tr
ansition can be induced by a field E from the average cubic phase. Whe
reas PILIN is a relaxer undergoing a macroscopic phase transition only
if E greater than or equal to 4 kV cm(-1), materials with x = 0.1 exh
ibit a spontaneous cubic to rhombohedral transition at 280 K on coolin
g. Moreover, in all the studied samples, the Tf temperature deduced fr
om the Vogel-Fulcher relation is found to be very close to che poling
temperature under high field.
